This radio meets the standards of Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) and the rules of Narrowbanding, allowing efficient spectrum use. It uses digital TDMA technology (multiple access per time division) that doubles the number of communications in a 12.5 kHz channel. In addition, it offers advanced functions of MOTOTRBO, such as the interruption of transmission (only decoding) to prioritize essential communications, and the announcement of channel change voice.
The DEM300 has a two-character numerical screen, external or pedal PTT support, digital / analogue channel tracking and priority, password protection, and meets IP54 classification against dust and moisture. It is also compatible with US military standards (MIL-STD-810 C, D, E, F and G). It includes functions such as voting scanning, MDC1200 signage, Quik Call II, and can operate in direct dual capacity mode (digital only).
The radio allows easy analogue to digital migration through a simple software package, which allows the only analogue model to be updated when appropriate.
